My Testimony
Hi there! This is my story of how I came to know the Lord. I have a bit of a different story when it comes to knowing Christ, one I am very thankful for!
I did not grow up going to church. There was the occasional attendance during Holidays or going with my Grandma during middle school but there was no consistency and my main priority for going to church then was mainly for social purposes. I loved spending time with my Grandma and extended family but there was not yet a love for Christ. I made the decision to stop going to church during high school due to being busy and not quite knowing the importance of relationship with God. It was not until my Junior year of high school that I met my best friends who had just moved to our hometown due to their father accepting a pastoral position. They had the same hobby I did, running! I was already on the cross country team and they joined and we soon became best friends.
Of course they knew who God was, their dad was a pastor for one of our local churches, they regularly attended youth group, and I joined in on the fun. Their personalities exuded Christ. They were kind, lively, joyful, and just different than the usual unkind, gossiping girls that I came to know in high school. I loved who they were and strived to be like them myself. I still was not quite taking hold of my faith but definitely starting to think about it more. We all graduated and went to separate colleges but stayed in touch and have stayed in touch even after all of these years.
During this time, one of our youth pastors actually got me plugged in with a ministry on campus during my Sophomore year of college and I was very apprehensive about joining and getting involved. I still was not sure about having a relationship with Christ but something supernatural was pushing me to just give it a try. I did and found acceptance among those who were there and found a community that I loved. I still have not accepted Christ at this point but I did join the ministry and a girls bible study in order to investigate more. Low and behold, the summer of my Sophomore year (2018) when I was about 20 years old, I accepted Christ and fully surrendered my life to Him.
After this point, I continued to investigate, found a good local church to be part of, and got baptized! Ever since then, it has been a normal journey through life, with ups and downs, but with the comfort of knowing that God is with me through it all.
There is more to this story but I didn’t want to make it too long. Always feel free to ask me questions! I know what it feels like to have many questions pertaining to Christianity and having my life completely changed.
